Maharashtra: Rs 6,643 cr reserve for MMRDA

Mumbai, Mar 15: Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today approved the budget 2008-09 of Rs 6,643 crore for Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) on urban infrastructure and transport projects. Mr Deshmukh, who is also the chairman of MMRDA, sanctioned the MMRDA deficit budget of Rs 498 crore. He also reviewed and analysed the present status and progress of various projects currently being undertaken by the MMRDA.

The projects which involve an expenditure of Rs 6,643 crore are - Mumbai Urban Transport Project (Rs 700 crore), Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project (Rs 500 crore), Extended Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project (Rs 750 crore), Metro Railway Project (Rs 468 crore), Mithi River Development Project (Rs 300 crore), Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme and Sky Walk with Hawkers/Shopping Plaza (Rs 600 crore), Construction of Flyovers (Rs 150 crore), Mono Rail (Rs 500 crore), Nirmal MMR Abhiyan (Rs 250 crore), Development of infrastructure in BKC (Rs 181 crore), Land Bank and Growth Center (Rs 610 crore), MTHL Dispersal Link Roads (Rs 200 crore), Rental Housing/Affordable Scheme in MMR (Rs 100 crore), Development of Wadala Truck Terminal (Rs 50 crore), Post Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Rs 50 crore), Oshiwara District Center (Rs 20 crore) and Solid Waste Management (Rs 20 crore).
