Praveen, Tanmay and Iqbal honoured with Khel Ratna

Lucknow, Mar 15 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today honoured the hero of the recently concluded triangular cricket series final in Austrailia, Praveen Kumar with International Kanshiram Khel Ratna award with a purse of Rs 10 lakhs and a citation in a function here today.

Besides Praveen, Under-19 world cup champion team members from Uttar Pradesh Tanmay Srivastava and Abdullah Iqbal were also honoured with Khel Ratna awards having a purse of Rs 5 lakh each and a citation at a function on the occasion of the 74th birth anniversary of Late Kanshiram.

Ms Mayawati lauded the performance of Praveen kumar, Under 19-cricket players Tanmay srivastava and Abdullha Iqbal.

Praising the outstanding performance of Meerut lad Praveen Kumar, she said '' he has brought laurels to the state as well as the whole of the nation''.

Previously medium pacer Rudra Pratap Singh and leg spinner Piyush Chawala were also honoured with Kanshiram Khel Ratna award.
