Bhopal, Mar 15 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said the opposition moving a notice to bring a no confidence motion against Assembly Speaker Ishwardas Rohani was 'unfortunate'.
Mr Chouhan told reporters here today that the post of Speaker of Assembly or Lok Sabha was very dignified in parliamentary tradition and this act of opposition had harmed its dignity. The state Assembly has a history of high parliamentary traditions and Mr Rohani was following it, he said.
''In a democracy, differences and protest were common but it should not cause any harm to high decorum and parliamentary traditions,'' he said, adding the opposition should not have taken such step.
The Assembly was informed about a notice of no confidence against Mr Rohani on Thursday with the opposition claiming the notice was served to protest the ''highhandedness'' of the Speaker.
