New Delhi, Mar 15 : Manish Arora's collection based on the theme 'Warrior' stole the limelight at the fashion week with models in ensembles embellished with crystallized Swarovski.

The collection drew inspiration from the shapes and forms of knights, Samurais, armour and other military attire to create a dramatic signature style.

"Warriors in my fantasyland. It was from gladiators to lions, to eagles to crystallised Swaroski elements to collaboration with many-many brands. Big international brands like Walt Disney to collaboration with Japanese artist called Tanaami, to collaboration with Indian artist called Subodh," said Arora.

Tapestries and prints from the 17th century Baroque period with motifs like the lion head and eagle infused with contemporary art were popular motifs in his collection.

The collection explored new techniques of embroidery to achieve unique textures and embellishments in his collection.

The 11th edition of the WIFW yet again promises to be a grand affair with nearly 84 designers and 40 shows.

The five-day event, which got off to a rollicking start in New Delhi on Wednesday, is being held at the Pragati Maidan, a sprawling trade promotion complex in the heart of the Indian capital.

Fashion extravaganzas like the Wills India Fashion Week provide a platform for the designers to directly interact with the buyers and do good business.
