Hisar, Mar 15 (UNI) The Department of Soil Sciences of Haryana Agricultural University will host a one-day seminar on water management on March 17.
According to Head of Department of Soil Sciences Dr M L Dixit, the seminar would focus on promotion of water saving and management technologies.
''In view of the scarcity of irrigation water, dissemination of water-saving and management technologies amongst farmers at the grass-root level has become imperative on the part of scientists,'' he said.
Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Deputy Director General Dr A K Singh will inaugurate the seminar, while Command Area Development Authority (CADA) Administrator Sunil Gulati will preside over the inaugural function.
Participants from the Agriculture Departments of Haryana, Punjab and officers from the constituent departments besides the university scientists will attend the seminar.
Mr Dixit said the participants would be taken on round of the university research farm where the implementation of water-saving technologies would be demonstrated.
