Kolkata, Mar 15 (UNI) Controversy just doesn't seem to leave Greg Chappell every time he is here in Kolkata.

Chappell did every thing to stay out of another barb. He went to the extent of shutting out the media. Having arrived on Friday night to spot young talents from the Ashok Malhotra Cricket Academy on behalf of the Jaipur team for the Indian Premier League, Chappell went about his work as far away from the scribes as possible.

However, as he made his exit from the academy slogans and placards of ''Go Back Chappell'' followed.

So excited (!) or agitated was the motley group of youngsters that one of them yelled ''Go Back Sourav'' in front of television cameras!! ''Oops, delete that please, it was a mistake,'' he quickly added and the group disappeared.

Obviously the Ganguly controversy was still prominently etched in their minds.

To add to this, grievances from a few applicants in the selection trial made the day sour. The youths were bitterly disappointed with Guru Greg's selection process.

Amarjeet Singh from Rudrapur, who plays as an opener for his club was asked to leave after just 10 knockings. ''I had to spend a lot of money to come all the way from Rudrapur and attend this trial.

Had I known we would be treated in this manner, I would've never attended the trial,'' Amarjeet brooded.

His teammate Sukhvinder Singh, who bowls leg spin, was allowed to bowl just one ball before being said ''see you next time.'' Meanwhile, Chappell asked these youngsters not to use heavy bats and exert maximum force from the bottom hand. He even showed the proper grip.

Three applicants out of 487 were chosen from Saturday's selection Adil Imam, wicket-keeper batsman from Videocon Cricket Academy , another wicket-keeper batsman Suvankoor Das from Rourkela and his statemate Manas Muduli who bowls leg spin.

The three players will form part of the 24-member squad in Jaipur where the final selection commences from March 21. Out of the 24, only one gets a berth in the Jaipur side for the IPL.

Chappell's next stop is Delhi where another round of selection takes place on March 19.
