Gwalior, Mar 15 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Sardar Sambhajirao Angre, a close aide of veteran BJP leader late Vijayraje Scindia, died at his residence here early this morning following renal failure.
He was 85.
Mr Angre, who was earlier associated with Jana Sangh and later BJP, was Secretary to Ms Scindia for a long time. He is survived by son Tulajirao Angre and daughter Chitrangada Raje.
His funeral is scheduled here this evening, family sources said.
A former Rajya Sabha member, Mr Angre was undergoing treatment in a Delhi hospital for kidney problems and he was brought here yesterday, the sources added.
Mr Angre remained close to the Scindia family for a long time, but of late the relations seemed soured due to property disputes.
Meanwhile, at Bhopal, BJP's Madhya Pradesh unit expressed deep sorrow on the death of Mr Angre and expressed its condolences to the bereaved family.
In a condolence message, state BJP President Narendra Singh Tomar and organising secretary Makhan Singh Chouhan said Mr Angre had devoted his life to the organisation and society.
''His death caused the void of an able organiser and his contribution would be remembered for a long time,'' they added.
