Karnal, Mar 14 (UNI) A young woman, alleged to be a human-bomb in making, was arrested by the Haryana police from Patiala in Punjab, for involvement in the attack on Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, police said here today.
DSP (Head quarter) S S Bhoria told UNI that the 21-year-old girl, identified as Parveen, was produced in the local court today and sent in police custody till March 21.
The fifth accused arrested in the case, Parveen, is a student of BA first year in Rajendra College, Patiala and a resident of Pammikalan in district Mansa, the DSP said.
She allegedly came into contact with Bakshish Singh, the mastermind of the attack, through his wife as they lived at the same place.
Earlier four men, Mohinder Singh, Swaran Singh, Jaswant Singh and Hoshiar Singh have been arrested for the attack on the convoy of the Baba by triggering blast in the spare tyre of a truck near Nilokheri on February 2.
The investigations revealed that Parveen was part of 'plan number one' in which she had to act as a human bomb to eliminate the Sauda Chief. She was provided a mobile and had even kept the explosives used in the attack with her for a considerable time, he said.
However, the plan was later changed by Baksheesh Singh who asked Mohinder Singh and Swaran Singh, now in judicial custody, to trigger the blast in the truck near the vehicle of the Dera Chief when his convoy was moving on the national highway No.1, the DSP said.
Though seven of his followers were wounded in the attack, the Baba had escaped unhurt. Thousands of Dera followers had caused a jam on the G T road between Karnal and Kurukshetra for about six hours after the incident.
