Two killed, 12 shops gutted in Kashmir
Srinagar, Mar 14 (UNI) Two people were killed and as many wounded while 12 shops and a vehicle were reduced to ashes in the Kashmir Valley overnight, official sources said today.
They said a vehicle hit and critically injured a woman at Pazalpora in south Kashmir district of Anantnag. She was immediately rushed to a Sub-district hospital, Bijbehara, where she died.
Sixty-year-old Ghulam Ahmad Jan was critically injured when he was hit by a vehicle at Pohroo chowk, Nowgam. He died before he could be shifted to a hospital.
Two people were injured in similar road accidents at Neelpora Shahabad and Handwara. The injured were hospitalised, the sources said.
They said a vehicle caught fire when it touched an electric wire at Malilpora. However, the fire was later brought under control.
A fire broke out in a shop at the main market in Kupwara last night. However, before the fire was put out, it spread to the adjacent shops.
The sources added more than a dozen shops were reduced to ashes in the fire. However, there was no report of loss of life in the incident.
