Patiala, Mar 14 (UNI) Miri Piri Khalsa activist Gurinderpal Singh Dhanola and his supporters including a former MP was thrashed by residents of Tohra village in this district today.

The problem started when Mr Dhanola alongwith Rajdev Singh Khalsa, former MP and their supporters tried to meet Bibi Joginder Singh Tohra, widow of former SGPC chief, the late Gurcharan Singh Tohra.

The residents of Tohra village soon gathered their and locked the house from inside. The CRPF personnel who were posted at Mrs Tohra's residence also did not allow them to meet. They were later thrashed by the villagers when they refused to leave the residence.

Later Harindepal Singh, son of former MLA Harmel Singh Tohra, the son-in-law of the former SGPC chief alleged that they had come to "kidnapped Mrs Tohra" but their bid was foiled by the villagers.

Mr Dhanola had earlier informed the media here that he was going to meet Mrs Tohra in a bid to revive the Sarb Hind Shiromani Akali Dal (SHSAD), which the former SGPC had formed after parting ways with Mr Parkash Singh Badal who then headed the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). He claimed that Mrs Tohra had agreed to lead the SHSAD as its patron.
