Ahmedabad, Mar 14 (UNI) Three BJP candidates today filed nomination papers for Rajya Sabha from Gujarat.

The party has selected all new faces for the elections, scheduled to be held on March 26.

Gujarat BJP spokesman Yamal Vyas told UNI that Bharatsinh Parmar (Bharuch), Natuji Thakore (Mehsana) and Purshottam Rupala (Amreli) are the official candidates of the party and have filed their nomination papers today.

While, Ramsinh Rathwa, Harjivanram Patel and Ramesh Mungra have filed their nomination papers as dummy candidates of the party, he said.

Gujarat Congress spokesman Manish Doshi said the party has decided to renominate its lone candidate Alka Kshtriya. She will file her nomination papers tomorrow.

The party has, however, not yet decided the name of dummy candidate, Mr Doshi added.

In Gujarat, elections will be held for four seats, of which three are being held by the BJP and one by the Congress. Of the three BJP seats, one had fallen vacant after the death of its senior leader Jana Krishnamurthy. Two others were held by former chief minister Keshubhai Patel and Jayantilal Barot.

The denial of ticket to Keshubhai was almost written on the wall since he had led a campaign against Chief Minister Narendra Modi in state assembly elections in December last.
