Hyderabad, Mar 14 (UNI) MLAs of the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and party workers were today arrested at Rajendranagar on their way to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad for disobeying the prohibitory orders clamped under Section 144 Cr.P.C in four mandals under Cyberabad Commissonerate.

According to police, 17 MLAs, including Deputy leaders of TDP Legislature Party T Devender Goud and N Janardhana Reddy, and 52 party workers were arrested when they tried to go to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport by disobeying the prohibitory orders to obstruct the inauguration of the Airport by UPA Chairperson and AICC President Sonia Gandhi this evening.

All the arrested MLAs and workers were taken to Rayadurgam police station.

The TDP MLAs and the party workers proceeded to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport from Assembly premises to protest against the removal of former Chief Minister N T Rama Rao's name from the domestic terminal of the airport.

The party has been demanding the state government to retain the TDP Founder's name for the new airport, which would start commercial operations from March 16.
