Tankha submits RS nomination papers in MP
Bhopal, Mar 14 (UNI) Former Madhya Pradesh advocate-general Vivek Tankha today submitted nomination papers as an independent candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections from this state.
Mr Tankha, who reached here by special plane along with Congress state President Suresh Pachouri this afternoon, reached the Assembly building at 1415 hrs and went to Leader of the Opposition Jamuna Devi's chamber. He submitted his papers to the returning officer at 1450 hrs.
Among those present were Ms Devi, Mr Pachouri, Samajwadi Party state President Narayan Tripathi, legislators Arjun Palia (SP), Ramlakhan Sharma (Communist Party of India-Marxist), Assembly Deputy Speaker Hazarilal Raghuvanshi and state Congress election committee head Ajay Singh.
Mr Tankha is the first candidate to submit his papers. Tomorrow is the last date for doing so.
