Sensex recovers 200 points in early trade

Mumbai, Mar 14: Breaking the previous downward streak, Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex gained over 200 points to reach near 15,550 level in the early trade on fresh inflows in the market. After opening with a marginal gain at 15,467.39, Sensex dived into red to touch low of 15,331.35 and then reverted back to the positive zone.

Meanwhile, broader-based Nifty of National Stock Exchange gained over 50 points to a high at 4680 in the mid-morning trade. Buying in battered pivotals gave a flip to the market to move higher in opening trade. However, high volatility was witnessed in the opening trade. As many as 19 shares from the 30-member Sensex pack advanced. The market breadth was negative. Asian markets reversed early gains today, brokers said.

Hindalco Industries advanced by 3.34 per cent to Rs 179.50 on 1.67 lakh shares and was the top gainer from Sensex pack. Reliance Industries gained one per cent to Rs 2264 on 1.09 lakh shares. It moved in a range of Rs 2225 and Rs 2271.80 so far during the day Satyam Computer Services recovered 3.01 per cent to Rs 375.20, Infosys Technologies increased by 2.96 per cent to Rs 1373 and DLF, which was badly hit yesterday, recovered 2.46 per cent to Rs 621.65.

FIIs were net buyers of Rs 242.82 crore in the futures and options segment yesterday. They were net sellers of index futures to the tune of Rs 85.43 crore and bought index options worth Rs 85.82 crore. They were net buyers of stock futures to the tune of Rs 238.73 crore and bought stock options worth Rs 3.70 crore.
