Kuldip Bishnoi quits Lok Sabha
Chandigarh, Mar 14 (UNI) Suspended Congress MP Kuldip Bishnoi, son of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, today resigned from the Lok Sabha, a day after the disqualification of two MLAs Dharam Pal Malik and Rakesh Kamboj by the state Assembly Speaker under the anti-defection law.
The two MLAs had professed allegiance to Mr Bhajan Lal's new party, the Haryana Janhit Congress (BL).
'' I have sent my resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee,'' Mr Bishnoi told reporters outside the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here.
He said he would again seek the mandate of the people in the byelection to the Bhiwani constituency from where he was elected to the Lok Sabha in the last polls.
The two legislators were present in the December 2 rally of Mr Bhajan Lal in Rohtak where he launched the Haryana Janhit Congress (BL). They were disqualified by Speaker Raghuvir Singh Kadian as they failed to appear before a Vidhan Sabha tribunal hearing the case to explain their position.
The two MLAs, along with Mr Bhajan Lal, were suspended from the Congress after the launch of the new party.
