Governor assures PM of Arunachal's time-bound development

Itanagar, Mar 14 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh Governor General (Retd) J J Singh has assured Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of time-bound implementation of all projects sanctioned under the PM's package during his recent visit to the state.

General Singh, who had called on the Prime Minister in New Delhi on Wednesday last to brief him on the various developments in the state, thanked him for announcing the mega-developmental package and said the Prime Minister's wish to see a developed Arunachal would soon be fulfilled within the requisite time frame, official sources here informed today.

Each and every project under the PM's package would be monitored at the highest level, the Governor said, while assuring that he would personaly monitor the progress of various projects.

The Governor also briefed the prime minister of the issue of change of nomenclature from 'Dafla' to 'Nyishi', sources informed adding that Dr Singh had assured to issue necessary instructions in this regard.

It might be mentioned here that the Union Cabinet had already approved the proposed change in nomenclature and the bill is now required to be passed in the Parliament.

During his stay in New Delhi, the governor also met Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Rural Development Minister Raghuvansh Singh, sources disclosed.

Gen Singh is also scheduled to meet Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, Communication and IT minister A Raja, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Tourism Minister Ambika Soni among others to pursue various issues pertaining to the state and Prime Mininster's package, sources added.
