Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) Din prevailed in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly as Leader of the Opposition Ramdas Kadam levelled allegations of corruption against Revenue Minister Narayan Rane and demanded that Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh immediately seek the Minister's resignation.
Mr Kadam quoted reports appearing in the vernacular media today which stated that over five acre of land near the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Sahar village, though owned by the government, was ordered to be given to a private owner by the Revenue Minister. The cost of this land is around Rs 100 crore.
Speaker Babasaheb Kupekar said since Mr Kadam has not given any notice on this issue, it would be improper to name anyone.
At this point, Sena-BJP members entered the Well of the House and raised slogans against the Speaker. There was a verbal exchange between the Speaker and the Leader of the Opposition.
Amidst the din, the Speaker carried through the proceedings, including the bills, and then adjourned the proceedings till Monday.
