Delimitation process completed in record time, 3.96 voters in K'taka

Bangalore, Mar 14 (UNI) Karnataka State Election Commission has completed the delimitation process in a record days of 14 days.

Disclosing this to newsmen here today, State Election Commissioner R Ramaseshan said that the complete process of delimitation of all the 224 Assembly segments were completed in 12 to 14 days.

He said that the completion of the delimitation process has been communicated to the Chief Election Commission.

Mr Ramaseshan said that besides completing the delimitation process, the Election Commission machinery is also on the verge of completing the task of preparing electoral rolls in all the assembly seats within two days.

He said that both delimitation and finalisation of electoral rolls have been undertaken in two phases. In the first phase addition and exclusion of those of Villages and Hoblis were notified and the recommendation of the Delimitation Commission was taken up before generating electoral rolls. However, while delimitation process was completed in Bangalore and other City Corporation areas, the electoral rolls in Urban areas would be completed within next two days.

Replying to a question, Mr Ramaseshan said that approximately 3.98 crore voters are in the newly prepared electoral list.

Inclusion of new names will be taken up till the election process started.
