Kannur, Mar 14: The CPI(M) in Kerala today alleged that the ''wrong policies'' of the United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre had led to skyrocketing of prices of essential commodities.

Inaugurating the State-level march against the Union Government on the issue, CPI(M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan said the UPA Government had not taken any step to arrest the price hike and shortage of foodgrains. Alleging that the Centre stood for capitalists, he accused the Union Government of not doing anything for the poor. The BPL list was prepared in an unscientific way and some poor families were included in the APL list, he added.

Mr Vijayan said the price of essential commodities in the State was less, compared to other States, because of the Civil Supplies Corporation and Consumer Federation of Kerala.
