Nashik, Mar 14 (UNI) Army Aviation Additional Directorate General Maj Gen A H Gadhre today said the Combat Army Aviation Training School (CATS) here will become a full-fledged state-of-the-art institute in five years' period.

''Being the only Army Aviation School, we want to make it the best. Two motion simulators will be installed in the school. This will decrease the training cost and equipment related improvements,'' Maj Gen Gadhre said on the occasion of the foundation stone laying ceremony for Officers Mess Complex of CATS.

The Officers Mess Complex will include an ultra modern officers mess designed to accommodate all the training officers expected to come for training in near future and a sports complex.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 734.68 lakh. The first phase of the project, which includes administrative establishments, will be completed by February 21, 2009 whereas the second phase will be completed by August 21, 2009.

Raised on September 1, 2003 at Army Aviation Base, Nashik Road, the CATS conducts various prestigious courses like Pre Army Pilot's Course, Combat Aviators Course, Army Helicopters Instructors Course and Flight Commanders Course.

The school is also likely to impart training to Naval, Coast Guards and Foreign Officers for helicopter flying in near future, Maj Gen Gadhre added.
