Woman attempts suicide in Kashmir
Srinagar Mar 13 (UNI) A girl today attempted suicide in Anantnag district of Kashmir, official sources said.
They said, Farida consumed some poisonous substance at her Iqbal Mohalla residence in Bijbehara.
She was immediately rushed to a hospital where doctors declared her condition as critical.
It was not, however, immediately known why she took this extreme step, they added.
Yesterday, a boy committed suicide in south Kahsmir by consumig poisonous substance at Ahgam.
The trend of committing suicide by people, particuarly women and youth, has not come down despite fatwa by Muslim ulmas against it.
During the past one week three people committed suicide while a woman made a suicide attempt in the valley.
The ulmas have described it as an un-Islamic act and against the teachings of Prophet Mohammed.
