Vasan, TS Reddy,Jayanthi Natrajan to contest Rajya Sabha poll: Cong
New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) The Congress today announced the names of 16 candidates for the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha, including party treasurer Motilal Vora, Petroleum Minister Murli Deora, MoS in the PMO Prithviraj Chauhan, Minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation G K Vasan and party spokesperson Jayanthi Natrajan.
Following are the Rajya Sabha candidates: Andhra Pradesh (Mr T Subbarami Reddy, Mr Nandi Yellaiah and M A Khan), Arunachal Pradesh (Mr Mukut Mithi), Assam (Mr Bhubaneshwar Kalita), Chhattisgarh (Mr Motilal Vora), Gujarat (Prof Alkabehn Kshatriya), Haryana (Dr Ram Prakash), Maharashtra (Mr Chauhan and Mr Deora), Manipur (Mr Rishang Keishing), Meghalaya (S C Marak), Orissa (Mr R C Khuntia) Rajasthan (Ms Prabha Thakur) and Tamil Nadu (Mr G K Vasan and Ms Natrajan).
Permanent Invitee to the CWC Oscar Fernandes said, in a press note that the names were cleared by party President Sonia Gandhi.
Ms Gandhi has also decided to field three candidates in the Legislative Council polls in Maharashtra and Bihar. They are Mr Sudhakar Gangane, Mr Shivajirao Deshmukh and Mr Jayaprakash Chhajeo (all Maharashtra) and Ms Jyothi (Bihar).
