Two women smugglers sentenced to RI
Katihar, Mar 13 (UNI) A local court today sentenced two women to 15 and ten years of rigorous imprisonment for smuggling contraband.
Katihar District and Sessions Court Judge Majhar Imam pronouncing the judgement also imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on Kiran Devi and Rs 25,000 on Vidya Devi.
However, if they failed to pay the fine, they would have to serve the jail sentence for a further period of three more months each, the judge said.
The duo hailed from New Delhi and were arrested from Koda area in the district in June 2005 following a tip-off and about 18 kg of ganja were recovered from them.
