Sena-BJP members stage walk out on farmers exploitation
Mumbai, Mar 13 (UNI) Opposition Shiv Sena-BJP in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly today staged a walk out protesting against the exploitation of farmers in Wardha district by the Land Development Bank.
The question about the exploitation of farmers was raised by Nitin Gadkari (BJP) and others in the House.
Cooperation Minister Patangrao Kadam said he would inquire into the incident of exploitation of Purushottam Ramji Gujar, who had taken a loan of Rs 3.42 lakh from the Land Development Bank for purchasing tractor. So far, the Bank has recovered Rs 7.05 lakh, of which the interest recovery is of Rs 6.97 lakh, he added.
Mr Gadkari said the farmer was forced to sell his farm of ten acres and even the tractor for Rs 1.28 lakh.
Dr Kadam said that he will look into the matter and try to help the concerned farmer. However, not satisfied with the reply, members of Opposition staged a walk out.
