NIFF'08 in Nashik on May 24-25

Nashik, Mar 13: The first Nashik International Film Festival (NIFF) 2008 will be held here on May 24-25.

The event would be organised by the Metro Foundation of India's Dadasaheb Phalke Film and Television Institute, Kalavaibhav Sanstha and Reva Media and Entertainment Company.

A short film and documentary competition would be held during the Festival and the first ''Golden Camera'' awards would also be presented on the occasion.

The event have been organised to highlight the city, the land of Chitrapat Maharishi Dadasaheb Phalke, the founder of Indian cinema industry, on the global map, Festival Director Mukesh Kaneri said in a press meet here.

Various other programmes such as photo exhibition, poster exhibition, book exhibition, talk shows, seminars and workshops would be organised on the occasion. The NIFF Carnival would be an added attraction of the event.

''We have approached Bollywood actresses Tabu and Nandita Das to participate in a discussion on Depiction of women in Cinema as well as ace director Ashutosh Gowarikar for a lecture on Making it to the Oscars,'' Mr Kaneri said.

Producer Nitin Patil said the event would serve the as a platform for artistes from Nashik to channelise their efforts in a right direction to showcase their talent.

The website of the festival would be launched next week.
