Kannur, Mar 13 (UNI) The Kannur peace foundation (KPC) was constituted as a third force to fight political forces in Thalassery sub division, Gandhi Peace Foundation Chairman P Gopinathan Nair said.
Speaking at a press conference here today, he said youths in Thalassery were inactive. A mahila camp was also constituted to protect women from political violence in the area.
KPC had also decided to constitute a youth camp in Mambaram high school here by April last week. National peace campaign leaders S N Subba Rao and P V Rajagopal would lead the camp.
They will visit the sensitive areas and conduct prayer meetings and later, organise a convention with people and political workers.
KPC had formed 15 units in Thalassery to coordinate the work of the national youth camp members. The working committe of the youth camp was held today to constitute a committee, he added.
An all party peace meeting convened by the Chief Minister V S Achutanandan will help to restore peace in Kannur, he said.
KPC will organise a one-day fast at Thallasery bus stand tomorrow to protest against the political violence, he said.
