India not in league of countries with max PCT applications
New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) India was not among the first 15 countries to have filed maximum Patent Co-operation Treaty (PCT) applications, the government informed the Rajya Sabha today.
Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Kapil Sibal informed the upper house in a written reply that as per World Intellectual Property Rights Organisation (WIPO) data, the first 15 countries who have filed maximum PCT applications are the US, Japan, Germany, Republic of Korea, France, the UK, China, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Canada, Australia, Finland and Israel.
Indian companies, research institutions and universities have been filing patent applications in other countries, including applications through the route of PCT, he added.
But India was not one of the 15 countries which have filed maximum PCT applications.
