Gigabyte launches energy-saving 'DES' motherboards
Mumbai, Mar 13 (UNI) Taiwan-based Gigabyte launched its energy saving and power efficient range of ''Dynamic Energy Saver'' (DES) PC motherboards here today.
The DES motherboard has a five-phase automatic power supply technology capable of saving upto 70 per cent of power consumption and increasing the PC's efficiency by 20 per cent.
''The DES can save on costs for the user and also protect the environment. In India, an estimated 20 million PCs consume 900 million KW of power with a bill of Rs 4.5 billion,'' Gigabyte Graphics Card GM Sales Rajan Sharma said, adding, ''If the PCs ran on DES, savings would work out to Rs 26.3 billion.'' The Company will follow a competitive and performance based pricing, which will be backed by whole of the Company's annual advertising budget for India operations with projected sales of 4-5,00,000 pieces during 2008.
The DES will also replace all of Gigabyte's older range of motherboards by 2009.
