Custody death leads to protest at hospital and Cantt police station
New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) A magisterial enquiry has been ordered and a three-doctor team constituted to conducT enquiry into an alleged custody death by Delhi Police Special Staff sleuths.
The swift action by area DCP (south-west district) followed after family members of the 'victim' Vicky (20) raised a storm at the Safdarjung Hospital where he was admitted following a stomachache.
According to the police, Vicky, a pickpocket, was picked from Golf Course parking yesterday afternoon, following a tip-off, by Special Staff sleuths, Dhaula Kuan.
On the way, the victim complained of stomachache following which he was taken to the Safdarjunj Hospital ICU by PCR men, who were summoned by the Special Staff sleuths, where he died in the evening.
Meanwhile, family members allege that he was thrashed by the police and died due to injuries and protested outside the hospital and Cantt police station.
DCP (south-west) ordered a postmortem by a board of three doctors besides a magisterial enquiry into the incident.
