Centre must stop import of agri products: Karshaka Sangam
Kannur, Mar 13 (UNI) The Centre must prevent import of agricultural products and this had adversly affected agriculture products in Kerala, Karshaka Sangam (KS), a pro-CPI(M) organisation, State President M K Bhaskaran claimed today.
Addressing a press conference here, he urged the Centre to impart new research methods to Kerala farmers for preventing the destruction of spices and coconuts.
He demanded the Centre to include the names of arecanut, pepper, vanila, rubber, coconut, cardamom, coffee, tea and nutmeg fruit into the price protect table.
He also urged withdrawal of the recent price hike of fertilisers, kerosene, petrol and diesel.
He also urged the state government to give title deeds to all farmers and a minimum support price of Rs 16 for milk procured from them.
KS would organise a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhavan on March 27, he said, adding that one lakh farmers would participate in the programme to highlight these demands.
