APFC arrested on charges of Graft
New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) An Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner in Trichy, arrested by the CBI for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh, has been remanded to 14-day judicial custody by a Special CBI court.
D Pandian was arrested red-handed while accepting the bribe from an Automobile Company for showing official favour in not initiating legal proceedings against the Company.
The accused had allegedly threatened the accounts manager of the automobile company, having a chain of showrooms, that he would slap cases against the dealer for failing to enroll the workers of the firm with the Employees Provident Fund Organisation.
He had demanded Rs 4 lakh for not taking any legal action in the matter.
The CBI conducted searches at his residence in Trichy.
