New Delhi, Mar 13: The non-cooperation stir by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) employees was called off this evening following an assurance by the Civil Aviation ministry that existing airports would not be closed for the new Greenfield airports in the country.
Agitating employees' leaders said here that the talks between Airport Authority Employees' Union (AEU) and the Civil Aviation ministry would continue. ''If the government does not clarify the final position by May 31, 2008, the strike will be revised,'' said AAEU leaders after ending the meeting with aviation authorities. The AAEU had launched a ''non-co-operation'' stir from the midnight of Tuesday. The stir had not affected air operations, but the absence of around 15,000 AAI workforce had created problems with aerobridge and conveyer belt operations.
