Kohima, Mar 12 (UNI) Re-polling in one of the polling booths under Suruhoto Assembly constituency in Zunheboto district of Nagaland passed off peacefully today amid tight security arrangements.
Of the total 60 constituencies in the State, the results of the Suruhoto constituency remained undeclared as the re-polling had been deferred. The results of the 59 other constituencies had already been declared on March 8.
The Assembly elections were held on March 5 throughout the State.
However, dates for the re-polling of one booth had to be re-scheduled thrice following transport and communication bottlenecks.
On March 5, polling officials and party workers could not reach the polling station as the requisitioned vehicles failed to turn up.
Later, the Election Commission of India fixed three other dates for the re-polling but it could not be held.
The district administration had to promulgate prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC in the area and finally the voting was held.
Sources at the Chief Electoral Office here said the counting of votes for the Suruhoto constituency will be taken up today itself and the results are expected by tonight.
