London, Mar.12 : Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton maybe earning eight million pounds a year and may also own a home in Switzerland, but he has intention of misusing his new found wealth.
"I haven't changed as a person, I haven't spent a penny," said Hamilton, who is acclimatising in Melbourne before the first race of the year on Sunday.
"Your perspective on life changes. I pay my rent, I am happy with my Mercedes-Benz. Clothes-wise I am sorted. I just have to pay for rent and food.
"At the moment it is important to keep on doing what I am doing. It is about building for the future," the Daily Express quoted him, as saying.
"I want to be able to take care of my mum. Even though I get paid more and have some money now, it is not right for me to go out and splash out here and there because something might happen to me and it might all be gone.
"I have to make sure it is invested properly. I bought my dad a car, but I want to buy my mum a house."
This is good news for his natural mother, Carmen, dad Anthony and step-mum Linda, but it will hardly be a surprise for Hamilton remains a home-loving boy.
Moving to Geneva was inevitable to escape tax on his new five-year deal but it will take its toll on Hamilton.
"Family is the most important thing to me," he said. "I can count friends on one hand. When I go to see my family I usually have friends there because they are like family.
