Maoist killed in police encounter in AP

Karimnagar, Mar 12: A CPI (Maoist) action committee member was killed in a police encounter near Nimmagudem village of Mahamuttaram mandal in this district in the wee hours today. Police said the elite Greyhound police, while combing the forest area, spotted three Maoists, who opened fire on the police. Police returned the fire killing Sampath, one of the Maoist on the spot.

However, the other two managed to flee. Two kit bags, one 0.38 revolver, ammunition of 8 mm and spring fields were recovered from the encounter spot. Police have intensified combing operations to trace the escaped naxals.
