Lt Governor resigns, to contest RS poll
Puducherry, Mar 12 (UNI) Puducherry Lt Governor Mukut Mithi today resigned from his post to contest the Rajya Sabha polls as Congress candidate from Arunachal Pradesh.
Mr Mithi had called on AICC President Sonia Gandhi a few days ago in New Delhi and expressed his desire to be in active politics.
Mrs Gandhi agreed, follwing which Mr Mithi faxed his resignation to President Pratibha Patil and the UPA Chairperson.
A former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Mr Mithi had assumed office as the Lt Governor of Puducherry on July 19, 2006.
