Intel, AMD to sponsor Govt's IT prog

Bangalore, Mar 12 (UNI) The Computer Skills Proficiency Test (CSPT), an initiative of the Department of IT of Karnataka, aimed at certifying computer skills of unemployed graduates, got a major boost with Intel and AMD joining as its sponsors.

Department Principal Secretary M N Vidhyashankar told reporters here today that the increased thrust by various companies to set up centres in Tier-II and Tier-III towns had brought a lot of focus on human capital in these regions.

''In this scenario, it has become vital to certify and empower this capital,'' he said.

The department through the CSPT programme will reach out and provide an oportunity to obtain a government-endorsed certificate.

''Considering this agenda of uplifting talent and contributing to sustained development across the regions, Intel and AMD have come forward to sponsor a significant number of candidates, who take up the test,'' he said.

CSPT helps candidates to prove their skill level and provide a measures for improvement of their current levels, he said.

The scheme was launched in October, 2007.
