T.I.M.E scripts Guinness record for largest quiz competition
Kochi, Mar 11 (UNI) The Hyderabad-based Triumphant Institute of Management Education Private Limited (T.I.M.E) has created a new Guinness world record for organising and conducting the world's largest quiz competition.
More than 2,40,000 students from 2,500 schools in 25 cities across the country participated in the three-month-long national circuit of the T.I.M.E Aqua Regai -- The Science Quiz, Institute Vice-President Ajay Anthony told a press meet here.
The national champion, S S Singhania School, Mumbai, emerged after five stages of quizzing -- school level preliminary, two stages of city finals, regional finals and national final, which was held in Hyderabad on December three, 2007, he said.
''We have received a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records in recognition of our effort,'' he noted.
Mr Anthony said the quiz, an annual event started in 2004, was held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kochi and Kozhikode in Kerala and the city-based Bhavan's Varun Vidyalaya was placed fifth in the competition.
''The quiz competition was conceived and implemented to encourage school students to look beyond school textbooks for science learning and understand the practical applications of science,'' he said.
