Suspended IG files anticipatory bail plea

Rupnagar, Mar 11 (UNI) Fearing arrest in some case or the other, suspended IG of Punjab Police Rajinder Singh today filed an anticipatory bail application in a local court.

After taking up the application ,the Additional District and Sessions Judge, G S Saran issued notice to the state for tomorrow for reply.

In his application filed through his counsel Bhupinder Singh Raja, the IG said that he was a 1982 batch IPS officer and had worked dedicatedly sincerely through out his career.

Rajinder Singh said he remained posted as IG Bathinda and Ferozepur in the last Congress regime and during that period he had got registered cases against certain political high ups, who were in power today, on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

However after these political high ups came to power they started settling personal scores and they stopped his promotion as ADGP and thereafter got him suspended, he alleged.

He further alleged that he was not even allotted official residence during his posting as IG (Counter Intelligence) at Pathankot. The IG claimed that he had nothing to do with the affairs of IET, Bhaddal and he apprehended that he might be implicated in a false case.

He said he had already expressed his apprehension about his implication in a false case in a petition filed by him in the High Court challenging his suspension.
