By Staff

Kolkata, Mar 11 (UNI) With Prince of Kolkata Sourav Ganguly by his side, Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan today unveiled Kolkata Knight Riders, his Kolkata team in the coming Indian Premier League (IPL) tourney, at a glamorous function here.

The team was unveiled by the King Khan, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly, who will also captain the team, and Australian coach John Buchanan.

''Lot of efforts have already gone to make this team and now I am very happy to be a party of this wonderful team, led by Sourav Ganguly,'' Shah Rukh Khan told reporters at the star-studded ceremony here.

He said the effort had deliberately been to focus on youth while making this a youth-oriented team.

''Through this entire team, I want to appeal to all the youths of our country to come and win the battle of life,'' Khan stated.

He introduced the official team logo for the 'Knight Riders' and also presented the mascot 'Hoog Lee', an animated image of a tiger, for the Kolkata team on the glamorous occasion.

''The colour combination of team's jersey, which has been designed by Manish Malhotra, would be black and gold. Black is the colour of Goddess Kali (a symbol of Kolkata) and we aim for gold,'' Khan said adding the kit for all the players of the Kolkata team would be sponsored by Reebok.

As the team's theme song ''Korbo, Lorbo, Jitbo'' (We will do it, fight it and win it), composed by music director Vishal and Shekhar, blared and the Bollywood king raised his hands with team captain Sourav Ganguly, coach John Buchanan and actor Juhi Chawla, a glamorous chapter of cricket was written inside a city hotel.

''We have lot of plans for cricket and entertainment as well during the tournament, but those would only be disclosed when it would happen. We will try to bring lot of things on stage without distracting from the game,'' he said.

Apart from other members of the team, four young players from Bengal - Lakshmi Ratan Shukla, Riddhiman Saha, Sourashis Lahiri and Rohon Banerjee - had also been selected in the team.
