Somnath calls for greater cooperation with Solvak republic
New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Welcoming a 12-member Slovak Parliamentary delegation led by the Speaker of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Pavol Paska, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today said their visit would open up new vistas and avenues of cooperation between the two countries.
Stating that exchange of Parliamentary delegations was very important, he referred to the newly-constituted India-Slovak Republic Parliamentary Friendship Group, and said it would go a long way in strengthening relationship between the two Parliaments.
During the meeting, Mr Chatterjee shared his views on the success of Indian parliamentary democracy and said unity in diversity is the hallmark of India's democratic polity.
Responding to Mr Chatterjee's sentiments Mr Pavol Paska said the Slovak Republic would assist India as a gateway in facilitating trade and commerce between India and the EU.
Ms Mabel Rebbello, Chairperson of the India-Slovak Republic Parliamentary Friendship Group, was also present on the occasion.
Earlier, the Slovak Delegation visited the Parliament Museum in the Parliament Library Building.
