Mayawati burnt in effigy over objectionable CD
Lucknow, Mar 11 (UNI) A mob of Bharatiya Janata Yuwa Morcha here today burnt Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati in effigy to protest the controversial CD made public by a Dalit outfit containing some ''objectionable remarks'' on Hindu Deities.
Ranting anti-UP government slogans, the mob led by Morcha chief Abhijat Mishra Raghvendra, gathered in front of the Vidhan Bhawan and burnt the CM in effigy.
The Morcha supremo demanded immediate arrest of the BSP MP from Basti Lalmani Prasad for being the patron of the objectionable CD.
He alleged the CD contents were ''volatile and danger to social tranquility''.
The state government had already ordered a high-level probe into the entire episode and maintained that it had nothing to do with the CD, which was released by one Ambedkar Samaj Sudhar Samiti without obtaining any permission.
Meanwhile, police seized six controversial CDs containing disgraceful remarks on Lord Ram and arrested three people in this regard in Harraiya area of Basti district today.
Basti Superintendent of Police Dr Sanjeev Gupta said the CDs were recovered from the house of Shivakant, the Organising Secretary of Bauddh Vihar.
Besides, Anil Tiwari and Ramfal Maurya were arrested from the spot.
The CDs contained remarks on Lord Ram and Krishna.
