Hyderabad, Mar 11 (UNI) Workers of Left parties and leaders, including CPI(M) state secretary B V Raghavulu and CPI state secretary K Narayana, were arrested by the police today when they tried to organise a padayatra to the State Assembly along with party MLAs.
They were protesting against the attack on Sundaraiah Vignana Kendra allegedly by RSS activists last night.
Leaders, legislators and workers of the Left parties took out a padayatra from Sundaraiah Vignan Kendra to the state assembly demanding action against the attackers.
When the police obstructed the protesters, leaders Raghuvulu and Narayana staged a dharna along with their workers and sat on the road, forcing the police to arrest them.
The police said 68 Left party workers and leaders, who were arrested were later released.
However, CPI(M) legislators Nomula Narasimhaiah, Ch Sitaramulu, M Narasimhulu, Gafoor, S Rajaiah and CPI MLA Chala Venkata Reddy reached the Assembly by padayatra and raised slogans condemning the attack and demanding stern action against the culprits.
