New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandeswari today called upon academics and education experts to work for strengthening education of women in the country.
Referring to various measures taken by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to improve and facilitate girls education, the Minister emphasised the need to sustain these efforts in a big way and work for their overall empowerment in all walks of life.
She was speaking at Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), a premier educational organisation, on the concluding day of celebration of International Women's Day here. Noted writer Shiv Khera was the guest of honour.
Mr Kera, delivering an inspiring speech, said society should give the highest regard to women and constantly work towards their empowerment and welfare.
Mr Ranglal Jamuda, Commissioner, KVS, also spoke about the initiatives taken by KVS in the field of school education.
Highlights of today's programme were a chorus sung by music teachers of KVS highlighting the need of women empowerment and the performances by the winners of various inter Kendriya Vidyalaya competitions, held at different levels during the monthlong celebrations.
The minister gave away prizes to the winners of various competitions.
