Inflammable chemical 'for' LTTE seized
Ramanathapuram, Mar 11 (UNI) The Customs officials today seized 50 cans of highly inflammable chemical solution, suspected to be used in manufacturing explosives, meant for smuggling to Sri Lanka and detained three people in this connection.
A police official, quoting Customs Department, said, on a tip-off, officials arrested a van driver at Bakkerappa Dargha seashore near Keezhakarai here, when he was unloading 38 cans of highly inflammable chemicals, allegedly meant for smuggling to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in Sri Lanka.
On interrogation, the driver confessed that another 12 cans were concealed in a shop at Ramanathapuram town.
The solution's chemical name was not known immediately. However, samples were sent for analysis.
