Most of the 1.5 lakh Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs) in the country employ 100-250 employees and their requirements varied. The most important factor for these units was customised technology solutions, HP Country Manager Manoj Suvarna said. Talking to mediapersons here, he said the SMB storage market in India was worth 350 million Dollars and growing at 60 to 70 per cent.

''SMB storage is a big challenge because data is growing for structured and unstructured. Most SMBs do not have personnel to manage its IT infrastructure, so they want custom-made solutions which is cost wise very sensitive,'' he said.

A new research conducted by HP showed that mid-sized companies around the world were looking for technology solutions designed to meet their specific business needs. The study was conducted by Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates in West and Eastern Europe, India, China, Japan, A-PAC and Latin America, Mr Suvarna said.

HPs new suite of solutions, StorageWorks 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA 4400), offered a combination of high-performance and availability features, virtualisation capabilities and advanced provisioning software that made it ideal for SMBs that want to cost-effectively manage large amounts of data in SAN environment, he said.

"HP continues to invest in and expand its portfolio of entry-level storage solutions to address the specific customer business requirements of all market segments," he added.
