CPI(M) study centre attacked; RSS counter charges
Hyderabad, Mar 10 (UNI) The CPI(M) study centre 'Sundaraiah Vignana Kendra' was attacked and a security guard manhandled, allegedly by RSS activists at Baglingampalli area in the city tonight.
Speaking to newspersons, guard Anjaiah said, ''two RSS activists tried to enter the premises and attacked me when I resisted. Later, three other RSS workers joined them and damaged doors of the study centre.'' They also poured patrol (in a suspected bid to burn) on the portrait of P Sundaraiah and book shelves, sources said. However, they fled the scene, when CPI(M) cadres reached the spot, they added.
Meanwhile, CPM State Secretary P V Raghavulu and party leaders staged a sit-in in front of the study centre, demanding the arrest of attackers.
BJP leader G Kishan Reddy and party activists, also staged a dharna, at a nearby junction, demanding the arrest of Left activists, who allegedly attacked them while attending a function.
Police pickets were posted in the area.
