BJP, Cong owe Rs 50 lakh as property tax
Bhopal, Mar 11 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and main opposition Congress owe more than Rs 50 lakh as property tax to the Bhopal Municipal Corporation for the parties' main office buildings here, the Assembly was informed today.
The BJP owes property tax dues amounting to Rs 13,04,820 for its building at Arera Colony while the Congress owes Rs 37,06,740 for the Jawahar Bhavan at Roshanpura. The government allotted land to the BJP for constructing office/shops and a guesthouse.
According to the allotment order, shops were to be constructed on the ground floor and halls on other four floors of Jawahar Bhavan, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra told Mr Kishore Samrite in a written reply.
''The Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee was granted a building construction permit for its land at Shivaji Nagar in February, 2000,'' Mr Mishra said, adding that the permits were granted by the Town and Country Planning Department.
