Ramanathapuram, Mar 11 (UNI) As many as 11 Sri Lankan fishermen were arrested for straying into Indian territorial waters at Karaikkal early today.

Official sources said during the routine sea surveillance, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) intercepted two mechanised boats sailing off Karaikkal coast in a suspicious manner.

During interrogation, the ICG found that all of them hailed from Trinconmalee in the island nation.

They confessed that they had mistakenly entered the Indian waters while indulged in deep sea fishing.

The two boats were seized and brought to the ICG station at Mandapam, here this morning and later, handed over to the State police for further interrogation.
