Washington, Mar 10 : Vincent Gallo has signed on to join Javier Bardem and Maribel Verdu in Francis Ford Coppola's 'Tetro'.
The film, set in Buenos Aires, follows a family "marred by tragedy and betrayal".
"I know choosing Vincent Gallo to star in my film will raise a few eyebrows but I'm betting that seeing him in the role will open some eyes," Variety magazine quoted Coppola as saying.
Coppola indicated that the film was based on some non-fiction experiences, but refused to call it autobiographical.
Shooting for the film is slated to begin on March 31. The film's budget has been estimated at 15 million dollars.
It is said that Copolla will produce it in the same way as he produced 2007 flick 'Youth Without Youth'.
'Youth Without Youth' team including Cinematographer Mihai Malaimare Jr., composer Osvaldo Golijov, editor Walter Murch and executive producers Anahid Nazarian and Fred Roos will be working on 'Tetro' as well.
